"This is the first in a series of new initiatives for the Academy that will be rolling out over the coming months," said Academy CEO Bruce Rosenblum. "We refine the Emmy Awards process every year, and this migration to an all-digital, online voting procedure will ensure that voting is easy, private and secure. This is all part of our ongoing mission to activate greater member engagement, to inspire and help our members develop their professional potential, and to bring new and long-established voices within the television community together to continue to chart a bold path for our industry."

Everyone Counts industry-leading Software as a Service voting platform eLect® has been improving the standards for voting for governments and member organizations throughout the world since 1997.  When compared with voting by mail, eLect increases participation, while improving security, access for voters and auditability of the voting process.

A survey of Television Academy membership revealed that 70 percent of the group’s eligible voters indicated they’d prefer to vote online. The Television Academy expects the new online voting system will make it easier for the more than 16,300 eligible voting members to take part in the awards process, including those who live overseas or have experienced problems with domestic mail service.  Online voting will begin with the first round of membership voting to select Emmy nominees for the 66th Awards season in 2014. In 2015, the online voting experience will expand to include selection of the 67th Emmy Awards nominees and that year’s winners.

“We are honored to have been selected by the Television Academy for this important advance in Emmy voting,” said Lori Steele, Everyone Counts Founder, Chairman and CEO. “The Television Academy is renowned for its commitment to excellence and innovation, and Everyone Counts is excited to bring the highest standards of excellence in online voting to the Academy and its members.”
