Internet Voting to be used by voters with disabilities and remote voters in by-election

Everyone Counts’ to repeat outstanding success of ‘iVote’ for the Clarence by-election

After the outstanding success of ‘iVote’ internet voting in March 2011, the New South Wales (NSW) Electoral Commission is looking forward to continuing to offer this service for the upcoming Clarence by-election. The iVote online voting system is provided by Everyone Counts and is open to voters with disabilities and remote voters. The Clarence by-election is for a NSW Parliamentary seat which is currently vacant.

Internet voting will take place from 7 November to 18 November. Voters must access the election online at www.iVote.nsw.gov.au or contact the call centre (1300 2 iVote) in order to opt- in to participate.

The iVote election in March 2011 enabled over 46,000 voters, triple the expected turnout, to cast their ballots via the internet and telephone for the State General Election, enfranchising many voters who might not have otherwise had the opportunity to vote.
