Juan E. Gilbert, Ph.D

Dr. Juan E. Gilbert, Advisor, is a Professor & Chair of the Division of Human Centered Computing at Clemson University in the School of Computing where he directs the Human Centered Computing Lab. He is also a National Associate of the National Research Council of the National Academies, an ACM Distinguished Speaker and a Senior Member of the IEEE Computer Society.
Dr. Gilbert has done extensive research in accessibility, voice user interfaces and electronic voting. His research team created Prime III, a multimodal electronic voting system that allows people to vote using the voice and/or touch. People who can't see, hear, or read or those with a physical disability, can all independently and privately cast their ballot using this technology. Dr. Gilbert and his team work with Everyone Counts on research and state-of-the-art designs for voter accessibility and usability.
