Statement from Lori Steele Contorer, CEO Everyone Counts, Inc.
In his final State of the Union, President Obama made a commitment to modernize voting as one of the last acts of his presidency:
“We've got to make it easier to vote, not harder. We need to modernize it for the way we live now. This is America: We want to make it easier for people to participate. And over the course of this year, I intend to travel the country to push for reforms that do just that. But I can’t do these things on my own…
I see it in the elderly woman who will wait in line to cast her vote as long as she has to; the new citizen who casts his vote for the first time; the volunteers at the polls who believe every vote should count -- because each of them in different ways know how much that precious right is worth.” - President Barack Obama, State of the Union 2016
Thank you Mr. President! It is thrilling to hear that you not only share Everyone Counts vision and mission for ensuring that every person legally entitled to vote has the ability to do so privately, independently and securely, but that you are committed to taking action to at long last, bring this kind of voting into the 21st century in the US. The Everyone Counts team has been working tirelessly for over a decade to provide state of the art, transparent tools to answer this call.
Our grandparents way of voting - standing in line for hours to use antiquated, unreliable, decades-old technology or on paper where one misplaced pen stroke - or ballot - can invalidate your vote - should not be the way Americans vote today. In the technologically advanced world in which we live, it’s shocking that the election process has not kept up with the times; that voting in 2016 carries the same inconveniences and risks of failure that we have had to tolerate for generations.
Everyone Counts saw the need to raise the bar for election technology and developed eLectⓇ, the only perpetually state of the art voting platform that modernizes the election process, end to end. Everyone Count’s software-as-a-service system not only makes it easier for people to vote accurately, it increases security and auditability, ensuring that every vote is legitimate and reliably counted.
Mr. President, you said, “It's easier to be cynical; to accept that change isn't possible, and politics is hopeless, and to believe that our voices and actions don't matter. But if we give up now, then we forsake a better future.”
No matter the forces working against using modern technology to ensure access, accuracy and reliability in elections, we won’t give up. Everyone Counts perpetually state of the art voting solutions are available today. And we will continue to innovate for election officials and voters, ensuring that today, tomorrow and for the next generation, everyone counts.
